Yardi Systems, Inc. (Yardi) seeks a highly motivated individual with real estate experience to join the legal team as a Paralegal II at our office in Roswell, Georgia. This position would work with the legal department to develop and maintain a 50-state multifamily residential lease library that would be incorporated into Yardi’s property management software products. The person hired will need to be comfortable researching and understanding legislation and case law and using that research to create first drafts of appropriate lease documents. The in-house counsel team plays an important role by helping to provide a range of legal, regulatory and business support, guidance and advice to a variety of internal customers at all levels of the company. This non-exempt position requires a regular weekday work schedule and reports to the legal department.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting and editing residential real estate leases, as well as addenda and other local-specific supplements to the leases
  • Researching and staying current with real estate laws and regulations affecting all 50 states, as well as local jurisdictions
  • Editing and reviewing correspondence for a wide variety of recipients
  • Assisting other paralegals and in-house attorneys located in Yardi’s Santa Barbara and Boston offices, as needed, including with the management of business matters and research projects
  • Willingness to assist the legal department with other corporate, business and litigation matters unrelated to the residential lease library

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of an associate degree, paralegal certification (current or lapsed) or equivalent work experience
  • Five or more years of relevant prior work experience
  • Relevant real estate experience (including, but not limited to, leasing agent, property management, closing paralegal)
  • Strong skills using Thomson Reuters Westlaw™, Microsoft® Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Experience performing research projects, interpreting and understanding statutes, rules and regulations and presenting research findings
  • Strong attention to detail, openness to feedback and direction, and an ability to stay organized, prioritize, and multitask in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong time management skills and an ability to take accountability for completing projects with minimal supervision
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a contributing team member
  • Desire to learn and grow in the position
  • Friendliness and collegiality a must!

Desired Qualifications

  • Current Notary Public appointment a plus, but not necessary
  • Prior property management, leasing or corporate or law firm paralegal experience
  • Microsoft® SharePoint or Teams experience a plus
