The Yardi legal department seeks a highly-motivated individual with paralegal-related experience to join the legal team as a Paralegal I at our corporate headquarters in Santa Barbara. This non-exempt position requires a regular weekday work schedule, and reports to the legal department.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, editing and modifying vendor contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and other contracts including indemnity provisions, damages limitations, and other key terms and conditions.
  • Editing and reviewing correspondence for a wide variety of recipients including other paralegals, in-house attorneys, internal departments, customers, opposing counsel and third-party consumers
  • Assisting other paralegals and in-house attorneys located in Santa Barbara and Boston as needed, including with the management on going and threatened litigation and organizing and maintaining business and litigation files, business matters, and research projects
  • Willingness to learn about the laws and regulations that apply to specific business areas including utility billing, tenant screening, vendor compliance, data security and others
  • Learning and using proprietary task-tracking software and how to generate, renew and manage client software license files
  • Assisting with all other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Some familiarity with drafting and reviewing contracts, including indemnity provisions, damages limitations, and other key terms and conditions
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Friendliness and collegiality a must!
  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification (current or lapsed)
  • Current California Notary Public appointment a strong plus
  • Prior corporate or law firm paralegal experience desired
  • Legal research and presentation skills desired
  • Basic contract review and analysis experience a plus
  • Microsoft® OneNote and SharePoint experience a plus
  • Associates degree or equivalent prior work experience
  • Prior training or experience as a paralegal or performing similar tasks
  • Strong attention to detail, openness to feedback and direction, and an ability to stay organized, prioritize, and multitask in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong time management skills and an ability to take accountability for completing projects with minimal supervision
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Comfortable learning and mastering proprietary software
  • Ability to work both independently and as a contributing team member
  • Desire to learn and grow in the position
