Under general supervision, the Network Engineer administers network devices including, firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, IDS devices, TCP accelerators, and wireless solutions in the corporate and datacenter networks. Responsibilities include installation of new equipment, configuration changes on existing equipment, and troubleshooting connectivity issues. Responsibilities also include working with ISPs, public DNS, and SSL certificates. The Network Engineer responds to monitoring alerts and queue requests while maintaining business continuity and high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supports network devices including, firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, IDS devices, TCP accelerators, and wireless solutions in a 24x7 environment
  • Maintains strong working knowledge of Cisco network devices
  • Provides technical support and administers aspects of WAN and LAN projects
  • Conducts testing and performance tuning for a global network
  • Provides on-call support to ensure 24x7 availability
  • Performs scheduled maintenance
  • Installs new equipment and configures changes on existing equipment
  • Troubleshoots and resolves hardware and software problems
  • Optimizes network performance and monitor network activity
  • Responds to queue requests utilizing Yardi’s ticketing system and documentation repository
  • Configures DNS and ISPs; maintains and renews SSL certificates
  • Collaborates with Yardi teams and management to safeguard the integrity of all systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three plus (3+) years of general networking experience
  • CCNA or similar certification
  • Palo Alto and/or Juniper experience desired
  • Experience with datacenter environments desired
  • Experience with application level troubleshooting a plus
  • Basic knowledge of escalation
  • Basic understanding of networking terms and technologies
  • Working knowledge of analyzing, responding, and remediating network requests
  • Understanding of common monitoring programs
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and topologies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Solid understanding of networking principals is desired
  • Understanding of networking protocols and topologies is desired
  • Understanding of impacts to environment a plus
  • Regular attendance and a regular work schedule are essential functions of this job
